2. Top 10 NGO’s from the 100 Best List 2012 by The Global Journal. The difference between an NGO (nongovernmental organization) and an NPO (nonprofit organization) is explained in this post and the top 10 NGO of 2012 are featured including Ushahidi, Danish Refugee Council, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctor’s Without Borders, CARE International, PATH, International Rescue Committee, BRAC, Oxfam, Partners in Health and Wikimedia Foundation.

3. 6 Key Points from the 2012 Nonprofit Communications Trends Report. This post explored the 6 main takeaway points with stats from the 2nd edition of this report which analyzed responses from 1,288 nonprofit organizations across 42 countries (82% in the U.S. and 6% in Canada) specifically pertaining to 2012 marketing and communication channels.
4. 10 Most Charitable Celebrities from the 2012 Oscar Nominees. This impressive list of talented celebrities looked beyond their accomplishments on the silver screen and into their philanthropic accomplishments. Stars include Kristen Wiig, Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Viola Davis, Jonah Hill, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
5. TIFF 2012: Film Festival Also Marks Festival of Fundraising Events. The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is the “leading public film festival in the world, screening more than 300 films from 60+ countries every September”. This post focuses on the fundraising events surrounding this prestigious event like Friends of TIFF, Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) Brunch, M*A*C* Viva Glam Fashion Cares, the Stratford Festival’s tribute to Dame Maggie Smith and an Evening with the Stars.

   10 Highest Paid Actors from Forbes List and the Charities They Support. This post continues with the popular celebrity philanthropy posts with this list based on one released by Forbes and included Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler, Dwayne Johnson, Ben Stiller, Sacha Baron Cohen, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.

7. Applying the 2012 Marketing Trends Survey to Nonprofit Fundraising. StrongMail, a company that provides email and social media marketing solutions to businesses asked 939 business leaders questions surrounding their marketing budgets for 2012 via an online poll which formed the basis of this survey. The statistics generated could be useful for nonprofits to compare their own marketing plans for 2012 and one of the key messages was that effective fundraising begins with relationship building.
8. Justin Bieber’s Popular Perfume Someday Supports Nonprofit Fundraising and Earns FiFi Honours. We have featured the Biebs in a variety of fundraising related posts and this time it involved the release of one of his popular perfumes, Someday, which donates a portion of every sale to charity. He was honoured with a FiFi® Award for his contribution to the fragrance industry for Someday.
9. 5 Tips for Successful Nonprofit Fundraising in 2012. This post from January 2012 featured 5 basic tips to optimize fundraising and engagement efforts for nonprofits. As we stressed in posts throughout 2012, digital marketing initiatives are constantly evolving and although this is not an exhaustive list by any means, the tips remain an excellent place to start even today.

This list of stars used their status to increase awareness and fundraising of some very worthy causes and this list of celebrities included Demi Lovato, Dwight Howard, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Ellen Degeneres, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, George Clooney, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
